  • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: expensive to manufacture items in Kenya. For example, in the scrap metal industry, the Chinese collect materials from this country and take to China where they process and export back to us as steel which they price lower than steel made in Kenya. That is how expensive it is. If we are to succeed with the Big Four Agenda, then the energy sector comes in handy and something needs to be done. view
  • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: The cost of power is very expensive for households and small scale businesses. They have realised that the cost of doing business is a bit high. Security is also affected because we find areas without light experience a lot of thuggery. This means that lighting those areas is very expensive. Kenya has been relying on hydro and geo-thermo electricity. It is high time we looked at other sources for example coal. As the Chair has said, the Lamu coal power project has stalled because the Government has not compensated land owners in Lamu. As the Chairman has said, that project ... view
  • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: to other Kenyans. Therefore, when oil or other minerals are discovered in those areas, the communities there should accept to share with other Kenyans. That way, we will remain a united nation as opposed to separating simply because we have discovered something. The transportation of petroleum has become an issue in this country. It is transported through the pipeline, railway, or trucks. When it comes to trucks, there is a lot of adulteration. The trucks are taken to a den somewhere and super petrol is removed and paraffin is added into that tanker. It is because paraffin is relatively cheaper ... view
  • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you for donating to me one minute. I want to contribute to this very important Motion. Cancer is a real emerging issue which the Government should address so that we can alleviate our people from suffering. Cancer patients are dying a very painful death. We need to give the palliative care so that they can die honorably. There is the cost of transportation to India. Many people go to India to seek cancer treatment. It is happening. They can be treated. I think we should alleviate this suffering from them and as a country see how we can mitigate ... view
  • 29 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance to also speak. It is clear that Article 37 of the Constitution says “peaceful assembly,” but how do you control if people go beyond that? Do you not see a way you can make them demonstrate and use the crude objects in a specific area which will not affect other people? If it is allowed to remain the way it is and you know the nature of demonstrations in this country is changing, it means people can come inside this Parliament and demonstrate because that will be within the ... view
  • 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance to contribute to this important Motion. I want to support the adoption of the reports on the appointment of these great Kenyans, Dr Julius Muia and Mr. Nelson Marwa, for the respective departments. Starting with the first one of planning, we normally say that we were left behind by Singapore and Malaysia from the 1970s to 1980s because we have failed to plan well in our country and we have not taken resources where they are required. There is no other justification. I want to say he is expected ... view
  • 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: trickle to the common man, especially in the northern part and in arid and semi-arid areas. He should make sure that the resources are felt. Otherwise, the essence of devolution might be lost at that point. We know him as a County Commissioner, also a Regional Coordinator for the Coast region. He has a passion to fight drug trafficking. He should go with the same zeal and make sure that he achieves his objectives. I would like the Ministry of Devolution and Planning to urge the State to be devolving funds at a particular area. For example, in South Africa, ... view
  • 15 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: I also want to say it is good for the Order Paper to have order by itself. This is because like yesterday, we were expecting the first Bill in Second Reading to be the Computer and Cyber Crime Bill, which we had prepared for. So, when you come and find a different Order, then you are not prepared. I thought it is good for the Order to be predictable. For example, on Tuesday, we should have an Order that we have done research on so that we can also be effective. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 30 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. As I support this list, I got concerned when I saw the last page on the 22nd constituency, namely, Ruaraka Constituency. According to our Constitution, one is supposed to consider regional balance. However, if you check that constituency you will ask yourself whether it is a constituency in Nairobi or in a different place. This is just a concern.
