  • 31 May 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, in replying, I just want to plead with Members, that we put the interest of the East African Community (EAC) first. Even if we were to do the voting in the earliest time possible time on Tuesday next week, Kenya is going to be late by a day or two because Members of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) are going to be sworn in next week on Monday 5th. If there is a way we could do as a House to fast track the process, we better do it. I beg to reply. view

  • 24 May 2017 in National Assembly: Yes. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise under Standing Order No. 95 that the Mover be called upon to reply. The House needs to listen to this. Maybe Members have not seen this Bill. It is word for word to a Bill that we debated in this House two months ago. So, everything that Members are saying had been said before. We are just repeating ourselves. We are not changing anything. We are not adding any value. Actually, two months ago, the same Bill, word for word, was debated in this House. What is being done today is more procedural ... view

  • 24 May 2017 in National Assembly: This Bill is one of the very famous Bills in this House. It has come to the Floor of this House possibly once or twice and also went to the Senate once or twice. However, we were not able to pass it because we were unable to get the required number because it is a constitutional amendment. But we have no option as a House other than to keep trying until we pass it because it is a requirement in our Constitution. One day, and I hope it is this time, we will be successful. We have to achieve it. view
