  • 19 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, regarding the annexure, I can summarize that the management of KQ reviewed the value, cost and implications, and after consultations with the various stakeholders, they all agreed to sell the morning landing slot. The sale proceeds were shared equally with KLM. That was the best that could be done in the circumstances; the expenses were many, including parking and staff. Therefore, it was not cost-effective to keep the slot. Appendix 1 shows the summary of audited results for the period ended 30th September, 2015. We are a few months away from the end of the financial year ... view

  • 22 Mar 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute in support of this Bill. It is a comprehensive Bill which has considered a lot of issues. It is no secret that the fishing industry in Kenya is in a wanting situation. Having been born and brought up in the lakeside, I remember the days when we use to go to the villages within Kisumu City and there was plenty of fish everywhere. Within the borders of Kenya and Uganda, there was a free market trade. However, lately, fish has become like some black gold; very rare. ... view

  • 22 Mar 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, it is not accessible to Kenya. It is obvious that Kenyans are being arrested in the island. It is common knowledge that the President of Uganda said that the water is on the Ugandan side and the island is on the Kenyan side. Definitely, I am quite in order to say that there is a big problem. If Migingo Island was once upon a time in Kenya, it is now not accessible and available to Kenyans. view
  • 22 Mar 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, it is sad because most Kenyans have been doing their fishing there and the fishing industry has been booming. If this Bill is passed there will be some rules and regulations. It also deals with fishing within territories and borders of the country. It will also deal with those who encroach on the land or the waters of Kenya illegally and bring foreign vessels without permits and licensing. There will be proper control of the fishing industry. I like this Bill because it deals with the small-scale fishermen. It does not talk about the people who ... view
  • 17 Mar 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, this wildlife conservation issue is very important and must be taken seriously. We have two Government systems. Every level of Government must be empowered and must nurture this issue. There was a time in Kenya, tourism was the highest earner of Government resources. We took that for granted. We have relaxed. Even Tanzania is doing better now. Many people are going for tourism business elsewhere because we have not taken good care of our wildlife. Animals are dying and migrating as forests are being cleared. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the other day, residents of Langata were ... view

Here you will have the complete knowledge of what goes on within your country and especially in the Senate, which is your mother. Here, you get the right information. Senate is very rich with knowledge. We have a very good legal department with very experienced staff. It is one of the best in the country. We also have a very good team of researchers.
