  • 30 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also join my colleagues, Hon. Members, and Kenyans at large, to mourn these two great leaders. I served with Dr. Joyce Laboso in the 11th Parliament and with Hon. Ken Okoth in the current Parliament. Without much ado, everybody in this House knows the caliber of Hon. Okoth. His passion was in education, human rights and fighting corruption. It is very unfortunate that this afternoon we are where we are because of this demon called cancer. Today I saw a tweet where somebody said, “Oh my God, how can cancer come and kill cancer?” This ... view
  • 2 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to make a very brief comment on the first Petition. Since the last Parliament, the implementation of decisions made by this House through either Petitions or Questions has been very wanting. I have realised that the Petition by Mr. Ngari of Mbeere South has come again after the first Petition that was brought by the Member for Mbeere South, Hon. King’angi. Hon. Speaker, that resident of Mbeere is again petitioning this House after the Petition was executed. Therefore, I do not know, through your wisdom, whether we can go another way of having a ... view
  • 26 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker I want to make a very brief comment on this Petition by my friend, Hon. Agoi. As he clearly put it, it is very important that the Departmental Committee on Lands, led by Hon. Nyamai, expedites this matter and reports to this House. This Petition is similar to the many others on land matters which have come before the House. So, I hope this will be dealt with in upmost speed so that the family can be resettled. Thank you. view

  • 25 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: (South Imenti, Independent) asked the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government the following Question: (a) whether he could explain why Ukuu and Uruku Locations in South Imenti Constituency are served by Kariene Police Station and Githongo Law Courts, respectively, which are in Central Imenti Constituency; and, (b) what steps the Ministry is taking to ensure administrative boundaries are aligned with the sub-county and constituency boundaries for efficient service delivery. • 27 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Hon. Iringo has indicated that the Member who was in the Kimeru studio, mentioned Meru Members of Parliament. It is only that the Member is not here. He could really have had to substantiate whether it is only the Meru Members he was attacking or the entire House. I have never been to any office. You know me, because you are my Chair in the Liaison Committee, I have never been to any office. I am not known to be a solicitor of anything. That is why I am totally independent. I work between myself ... view

  • 5 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for this opportunity. I agree with you that Members have contributed to this Report for almost 10 hours in Parliament. This is one of the most popular reports that we have had in this Parliament. We can see some Members still want more time to contribute even now. I want to thank you, Hon. Speaker and Office of the Clerk because you have supported our Committee. We have a backlog of these audited reports of NG-CDF since 2013. It is through you that we have finished looking at the NG-CDF, both in Nairobi and Kisumu counties. ... view
  • 5 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: The issue that Members have discussed or raised on the Floor of the House is late disbursement of funds, including this financial year. Fifty per cent of NG-CDF has not been disbursed to the constituencies yet we are in the third quarter. This has affected many projects like disbursement of bursary funds. The Government has achieved almost 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary schools this year. Even those who finished their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are still waiting for funds because the target is to ensure that students join colleges and universities. view
