  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this crucial Motion by hon. Bowen. Many colleagues have expressed their concerns about the Kenya Power. I take this great opportunity to express my concern because since the onset of the short rains in October last year, my constituency and the Meru County at large, has suffered a lot of power blackouts, which even the regional management of the Kenya Poer could not prevent. Sometimes they were saying that trees were falling on the lines and at other times they could not explain the blackouts. It ... view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: work. If we continue experiencing the same problems from Kenya Power, then there is no logic in starting these projects; the youth will continue to shiwm in poverty. The Government should look into this. Besides issuing children with laptops under the laptops project, the project will bring about connection of power to all the primary schools. If all the primary schools will be connected to power, then the Jubilee Government has a noble idea because even dispensaries, which hon. Wakhungu has talked about, will be connected to power. Villages will also get connected to power. This view

  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Deputy Speaker. Unless hon. Nyenze is trying to give us some confessions, I remember--- view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, this is in regard to hon. Nyenze’s statement. I want to get a clarification from him because he was a Minister for Environment when I was in high school. Goldenberg was as a result of the Mining Act and mining regulations. He was a substantive Minister for Environment during Moi’s era. So, what did he do to stop that corruption? He is part of this problem. view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to support this Motion. view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: The recommendations on the TSC and the ICC are very fair. However, this Committee that is composed of very good legal minds is not very fair to the former hon. Member, hon. Otieno Mak’Onyango. This is because the Committee recommended that the Cabinet Secretary will be invited to appear before this Committee again so that he can say when hon. Otieno Mak’Onyango will be paid his dues. I think the Committee rushed to bring this Report to this House. At least, it should have met the Cabinet Secretary so that he could give an undertaking as to when hon. Otieno ... view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: I would like the Chairperson or a Member of this Committee like hon. Kajuju to give an undertaking as to when they will meet the Cabinet Secretary so that this Kenyan can get justice. The lawyers say that justice delayed is justice denied but the Committee is further delaying the release of this money to this Kenyan. Other Kenyans have been given such award. view
  • 26 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Madam Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion as amended. I would also like to congratulate my colleague, hon. Gatobu for coming up with this brilliant idea. I realize that poor Kenyans are becoming poorer by the day. As much as we want to come up with this data bank, I would urge the Government to come up with good policies which will help in the alleviation of poverty. This will enable parents to take their children to school. As hon. Ochieng noted, we have bright students, but we also have others who have no opportunity to continue with ... view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion and strongly so. First of all, these three judges have what the Committee described as pristine credentials. They have served their countries and also foreign countries. I have no doubt completely that these three judges will add value to the board. However, as we talk about bringing confidence in the Judiciary, as citizens of this country we need to have confidence in the judges who sit on the benches to give rulings on our cases. If a case does not go the Kathuri way I should not always say ... view
