THAT, during the fiscal year 2014/2015, the Government allocated Kshs10 million for the rehabilitation of the said road by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA). THAT, the said Authority awarded a contract worth Kshs10 million to a private company to commence construction. However, KeRRA failed to allocate more funds for the completion of the road. Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to support my brother and colleague, Hon. Mbui, on his Petition on the Mumbuni-Kathiani Road. This is one of several roads in the country which were started some years back, but which are yet to be completed. When the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing sits to look into this issue, and summon the Ministry concerned, they should look across the country because there are so many roads in respect of which contracts were given in 2012, 2013 and 2014, but which are still incomplete. I will table a similar matter tomorrow on a road in my constituency, called Nkubu- Mikumbune Road, in respect of which contract was given, but is still not completed. The road is being eroded. Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to support this Petition by Mr. Chege Macharia. Sincerely speaking, we have done a lot for the youth, including creating the Uwezo Fund and the Youth Enterprise Fund. However, the youth population is too huge that we are not able to cover all of them in the affirmative programmes being implemented by the Government. Therefore, it is important for the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare to explore other ways of ensuring that we support the big population of the youth through appropriate action programmes.
