  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: What is wrong with those 30 minutes? It is national security. It is in our Standing Orders. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Just for clarification, I thought Standing Orders say “before six.” The start of the session is at 2.30 p.m. You can revisit it. view
  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I beg to move the following Procedural Motion:- THAT, pursuant to provisions of Standing Order No.30(3)(a) this House resolves to extend the sitting time today by 30 minutes up to 7.00 O’clock in the interest of all Members to address this issue of national interest. Thank you. view
  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to contribute to this Motion with a heavy heart in solidarity with the people who are suffering in the ASAL parts of this country. Kenya is a stable country with a functioning government that is guided by the rule of law. It is sad and disappointing that in the 21st Century our people do not have opportunities. We give excuses and hide behind culture as cattle rustling continues. I do not suppose that in today’s modern world peculiar English words like “rustling” are widely being used elsewhere as in Kenya. That is ... view
  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Turkana. We will soon be talking of other conflicts that will be coming up in that area. We will be talking about people losing lives to starvation. This is a country where doctors have been on strike for over 50 days but a sense of urgency to resolve the issues surrounding the strike is lacking. The lecturers of public universities are on strike. Our young people are not studying yet we have made vote-seeking, and registration of hungry and dying voters, a national priority. We are at a point when we should be asking the people whether they are better ... view
  • 24 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to say that I am delighted to support the Motion. We are in the last session and many of these Members have served with distinction. I know it is the campaign season. It is also during the month when many members are working hard to register voters and meet the targets as we prepare for 8th August, 2017. But they will have to find a way to balance the important duties of this House and other competing commitments out there. It is a great thing. I see on this list a special Member that ... view
  • 24 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: As we run around, I have also been trying to do good work. My constituency was ranked number two out of 290 in the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG- CDF) usage. I celebrate my NGCDF committee. I ask the Committee on NGCDF in this House to assist members in this House with a supplementary budget so that we can do projects. This is especially the Kshs10 billion that needs to come to our educational institutions to build schools, classrooms and dormitories. The NGCDF is a lifeline for Members of Parliament, whether they will be here or not. I think ... view
  • 24 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: 11th Parliament on a high note with a record number of good Bills passed for the benefit of our people. I support, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 17 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. As the Member for Kibra from the great Nairobi County that has 17 constituencies, I rise to support this list. I want to put it on record that the list is properly done. It reflects a gender balance among the six commissioners. The Chair is a person of integrity and experience as has been evidenced by other Members. I am excited because the list also represents people from different backgrounds of the country, including a younger person, somebody almost my age from Marsabit County. I was very delighted to see that younger people are getting in ... view
