  • 2 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, normally, I do not oppose Bills in this House. However, I would like to go on record as opposing this Bill, and I have my own reasons for doing so. As you know, I am a member of the Njuri Ncheke of Meru and this Bill is contrary to our morality and contrary to our culture. There are certain secrets of Njuri Ncheke which cannot be written. There are certain issues of culture, knowledge, traditions, language, songs and dance for us to enjoy, not for commercialization. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, this Bill is based on some ... view

Madam Temporary Speaker, lastly, I would like to appeal to all athletes in this country and other sports people to consider using miraa. It is not a drug. I recommend it for our sports people. It will give them strength, lift their spirits and give them stamina in the field. They ... view

  • 19 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the clarification that I want to seek regards the erratic contributions that my county has made. If you look at Meru County which is region No.26 on the Report, we have contributed Kshs9.375 million in one year, Kshs27 million in 2014, Kshs6,140,000 in another year, Kshs7,820,623 in another year, making a total of approximately Kshs44 million. We are the second highest contributors to this fund. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we would like to know the criteria; why we, as Meru County, are among the number one contributors to this fund in the Republic. Is it because ... view

  • 19 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion that the Senate adopts the report of the Standing Committee on Finance, Commerce and Budget on the second basis for equitable sharing of revenue among the county governments which was laid on the Table of the House on Wednesday, 30th March, 2016. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this matter has been thoroughly discussed in various fora and recommendations made by the Commission of Revenue Allocation (CRA) which has been accepted by the Committee on Finance, Commerce and Budget. To me, this is a very good formula for us to use in ... view
