  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I have said in this House, the works that have stalled were to do with the demolition of the existing bridge as they awaited for the relevant permission for them to do the explosions. However, the other works to do with the excavations where the new bridge will be constructed have been ongoing. As I have said, our terms of contract with the contractor are very clear and my engineers are satisfied with the work so far. view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as per the report that we have, the works are ongoing but if the hon. Member has a contrary report--- view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Both the excavation and the construction of the new bridge. That is the report that we have and as I have said, I invite the hon. Member to visit the site at a date which we can organise with our officers on the ground to verify. view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the maintenance of the diversion during the time of construction of this bridge will be undertaken by the contractor. I also want to take this opportunity to assure the hon. Member that upon completion of the bridge, we shall restore the road to the way it was before it was used as a diversion. view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Assistant Minister, I will consult my diary together with my officers and I will be able to communicate with the hon. Member by next week. view

  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: My Ministry will carry out routine maintenance of Njoro-Molo and Njoro-Mau Narok Roads in this financial year, 2010/2011. The roads in question are classified as C56 and C57. Under the Kenya National Highways, I have allocated a total of Kshs34,364,000 for routine maintenance of these roads within this financial year. view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to, indeed, agree with the hon. Member that the section of the roads in question is, indeed, impassable. My Ministry has sent engineers to assess the damage and will be able to act on it on emergency basis. view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to agree with the hon. Member that, indeed, we have that challenge. Even today as we were talking about the Daraja Moja Question in Kisii, the diversion that was initially designed to carry small weight now has to carry more weight as we divert traffic and it ends up more damaged than it was before the road was used. I want to assure the hon. Member that we do ensure that we return the roads to their previous state after it has been used as a diversion. In this case, we will repair the Njoro-Mau ... view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we are in the procurement process and within the next 60 days, we will be able to have the contractor on site. view
