  • 1 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to make a brief contribution on the IPU Report, but substantively I wanted to contribute on the ACP-EU Report. view
  • 1 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I laud this kind of arrangement. This country should join as many international associations as is possible. They make Kenya visible. Apart from that, I applaud the Member who moved the Report. He encouraged Members that once they are given an opportunity to go to such meetings, they should yearn to take responsible positions by sitting in committees and playing international roles. A platform like the IPU is good for Members to expose themselves and see what people are doing out there. When you are around, you would think that your mother cooks the best food, but when you go ... view

  • 20 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: We do not need to belabor the point on matters climate. I am glad that Members are taking their time to make their own contributions towards this important Motion. I just want to zero down on mainly two elements. I will not take too much time because much has been said on this. In the SDGs, which are globally looked at, there is majoring on the blue economy as a need for sustainable development. I want to zero-in on the case of Kenya, namely, Homa Bay County, the surrounding counties, even Uganda, Tanzania and Lake Victoria. We are yet to ... view
  • 20 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Therefore, when it comes to matters climate, honestly, we need to give it the emphasis and attention it deserves and go ahead and finance it. We must walk the talk and finance matters climate. Currently, the allocation of money for environment by the NG-CDF is very low. Part of this money should be availed at the constituency level so that we can finance matters of environment better. When it comes to polythene bags, it is now clear that Kenyans have learned to live without them. Polythene bags were a big problem because they were degrading the environment. When it comes ... view
  • 20 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: how can we add value to our food systems? How can we sustain our food chains if we do not have rains? How can we do proper irrigation systems if our blue systems are challenged? I support this Motion with what I have said and I am willing to come and talk about it again and again. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
