  • 18 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Now that we have passed the two Bills, I hope hon. Members will be serious and committed. I hope they will also be sincere so that the healing process can start immediately. Let us cultivate mutual trust as Kenyans and move ahead. I beg to support. view

  • 13 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to, first of all, thank the people of Aldai for entrusting me with their affairs for the next five years. I would like to take the opportunity to also congratulate all those who were elected in that rather gruelling election that we all went through. I wish to also congratulate those who were nominated to this august House, because they have their own duty to play. I suppose hon. Members will understand if I pay special tribute to lady Members of Parliament, who are my colleagues ... view
  • 26 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Energy when Mr. Lawrence Barnabas Chemjor Keitany, who retired from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited on 1st June, 2001, will be paid pension dues in accordance with Rule 7(b) and 7(c) of the Trust Deed and Rules of his retirement benefits scheme. view
  • 26 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer. However, the answer is not correct. This is because as at the time Mr. Keitany retired on 1st June, 2001, there was a new rule which took effect from 15th May, 2001. The new rule allowed the payment of one-third of the total amount to be paid to the employees who retire. Could the Assistant Minister tell this House when he is going to pay Mr. Keitany his money using the new rule which took effect from 15th May, 2001? view
  • 26 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, while it is true the matter is before the tribunal, I would like the Assistant Minister to confirm whether the new rules took effect from 15th May. view
  • 26 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, according to the information that I have, the Retirement Benefits Authority Tribunal was given authority to enter into negotiations with the retiree and agree on a flat rate payment per month. There is a leeway which was given. view
  • 14 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Water and Irrigation:- (a) whether he is aware that the Government drilled three boreholes at Mindililwo Primary School, Kapteren Centre and Cheligwa Primary School in Keiyo North Constituency two years ago; (b) when those boreholes will be equipped and operationalised to supply water to the intended residents; and, (c) how much money was used to drill each borehole. view
  • 14 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank the Minister for that answer. He has said that they will operationalise those boreholes once the Kenya Power and Lighting Company supplies power. The electric power lines are not more than 200 metres from each of those boreholes. That should not be the reason because power is very near. Could he confirm whether payments have been made to Kenya Power and Lighting Company to connect power to those boreholes? view
  • 14 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could he tell this House when payments will be done? 3134 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES August 14, 2007 view
