I would also like to thank him for visiting there recently. However, after his visit, people still have questions on what is going to be done in Phase II and whether the budget programme has factored The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I seek clarification in two areas in which the Cabinet Secretary has not answered properly. Firstly, are there plans for PPPs for cold-rooms for storage of mangoes and other products to prolong their shelf life so that we do away with brokers? If so, what is the budget and when is it likely to commence? The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: Secondly, on the issue of the input and output of fertilizers, there are taxes in the input and output. Does it not amount to double taxation? That is what Sen. • 27 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this important Motion. From the report, it is clear that the cost of living is also affected by the cost of power because the cost of power goes into manufacturing and many other things. In Kenya, and following the recent rainfall, we highly rely on production of power mainly from rivers. With excess rainfall, you expect the cost of power to go down. We have proposed High Grand Falls Multipurpose Dam along Tana River between Tharaka Nithi and Kitui counties. That could save the country from the ... view
  • 27 Feb 2024 in Senate: The Constitution of Kenya is supreme, unless some of the agreements are done by cartels or people who want to hold the country hostage. This Senate has the power to deal with cartels. We should ask for those agreements to be brought here so that we debate on them. If possible, we should even pass a law dealing with those agreements. The argument that they are cast in stone cannot be sustained. I urge the Government to keenly look at the matter of the cost of electricity. I am sure it can be considered, considering the heavy rains that we ... view
  • 20 Feb 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me an opportunity to contribute on this very important Report. What put up the convening of the bipartisan talks was a situation in the country that was becoming a little bit tense. The matter of boundary review is very important. Mr. Speaker, Sir, right now there is an issue which is pending before the court concerning Makueni and Taita-Taveta. There are several other issues where boundaries need to be reviewed. This particular team has a constitutional mandate to deal with all matters related to that. I am aware of a matter between Makueni ... view

  • 20 Feb 2024 in Senate: Looking at food security and the cost of living, parents are unable to take their children to school. The middle class feels overtaxed. It is the middle class that takes care of the hustlers. It is the middle class that creates employment to the lower class for them to earn a living. The moment the middle class is overtaxed, opportunities become difficult for the lower class to earn a living and therefore life becomes difficult for them. That means many Kenyans may not have an opportunity to take their children to school or enjoy their daily living at a reasonable ... view
