  • 2 Nov 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to comment on this important Petition. On the matter of housing in this country and the future of ensuring that there is enough housing for everybody, there must be a programme in which the people take a loan with the Government. The loan should be supplied equally and sufficiently to all people, so that justice is seen to be done. Whatever happens in Nairobi City County should be seen to happen in Mombasa, Makueni, Kiambu and any other part of the country. There should be no different standards in ... view

  • 1 Nov 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to comment on these statements. I want to concentrate on the statement that was made by Sen. Kibwana. I think it is carefully thought out. Recently, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT went around the counties launching spots where young people could access ICT. Unfortunately, for the ones in Kitui, Makueni and Machakos, as soon as he left after a day or two, went off. We were wondering, were the best practices employed in this? With modern-day technology and the expectations of young people, we want to have ICT ... view

  • 19 Oct 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to comment on the just concluded Statement by Sen. Cherarkey and the one for Sen. Kibwana. Under employment law, you cannot interdict someone when they seek to be transferred in a procedural way. You have to be given an opportunity to be heard. The TSC needs to relook at this. Teachers who have been interdicted for requesting to save their lives or join their families and have given good reasons, should be given back their jobs. Secondly, is on demolitions. This country has a policy that before demolitions, you consult with the ... view

  • 17 Oct 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to contribute on this very important matter. Other than this suit that has been concluded, there is another pending suit which will be determined around the same land in November and I believe the same will not follow. The truth of the matter is that the moment East Africa Portland Cement Company acquired the land and the lease expired, the mining was over and the land was supposed to revert to the community. The current status is that it has to go back partly co-owned by the County Government of ... view
  • 17 Oct 2023 in Senate: vitiated by politicians. That is very true. Statements have been made by different politicians regarding this land. There are quite a number of highly connected people involved. The idea is not to give this land to Portland or give it for any other purpose allocated which is the work of the National Lands Commission (NLC). The idea is to grab this land and take it for their personal interest having taken it away from others. Even if this was to be for industry, the Affordable Housing Project, these people had already done housing. I am aware that Portland Cement have ... view
