  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir. That is what I want to say. The Attorney-General is not a Member of the Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs. He cannot be purporting to explain what took place. I am a Member of that committee. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I am amazed by my colleagues there in the way they are perceiving the message. Indeed, we could have sent the message to the entire Government and that is maybe what we were intending to do; that Kenyans and ourselves are dissatisfied with the way the Government is performing. But we are also citizens of this country and we are responsible leaders. So we are saying: “Look here, we have to pull up our socks!” We know and we have been the strongest advocates for the State Law Office. We have suggested that they be ... view

  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I also beg to support the Motion. However, I wish to go on record that we have been very hasty in passing our laws and amending our Constitution. We amended our Constitution to bring about the Interim Independent Boundaries Review Commission. I do not even know whether the word “interim” allows them to have full independence. I would like to urge the commission to be very careful about the sensitivities of this country and especially the way the previous boundaries were drawn. They should take those concerns into account so that we do not again ... view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: I also believe that they need to move very quickly. If we are talking about getting a new Constitution which requires new constituencies in which people will register as voters--- I urge the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs to be aware that we may not meet the time-table which has been set out for the constitutional review, if this body does not move with speed and conclude its business before the next one starts registration of voters and then we go to a referendum. view

  • 13 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to add on to what has been said, particularly with regard to the film industry. I was, at one time, the Chairman of the Kenya Film Commission and I learnt, in just that short time that in 2006, Nigeria made US$64 billion just from the film industry. Yet Kenya, which is known worldwide for its best filming locations, was nowhere near there. But do you know why they go away? We have a problem with Immigration Department. We have a problem with Customs and we have a problem with everything else. If ... view

  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. We have been told that not having a plan is also a plan. But to have a plan which we do not follow is also the same thing. Now, I want to support the Vote for this Ministry but, honestly, today--- view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I can always--- I hope it will not take my time! view
