12 Apr 2023 in Senate:
This Bill should pass immediately, so that when we go there, we have it. It is going to be one Bill that will push devolution and make it work even much better. We will also oversight how they develop the County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs). The CIDP has become a routine document that is developed and nobody knows whether it is implemented or not. When we have this law, it will enable us to do that. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know my colleagues are keen to contribute before time lapses. Therefore, I would like to stop there. Once again, ...

11 Apr 2023 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I will take two minutes to contribute and then read my Statement. I rise to support the Statement by Sen. Mwaruma on the HELB. I only want to put across one thing; that is, sustainability of HELB. Once upon a time, as it has been said by Sen. Cherarkey, I was the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology. Our interest at that time, in 2012, was the sustainability of the HELB. In fact, we hired a banker by the name Mr. Ringera for that one reason. We wanted somebody who would look at things differently, ...

29 Mar 2023 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for allowing me one or two minutes to add my voice to the Statement that was raised by Sen. Cystal Asige. I thank her for doing this. It is true that the data does not seem to be correct. It is not just about the data of PWDs, but even the children with disabilities. There has to be away in which we can know our children from when they are young. As the Committee looks into these issues, let them also look at our schools. This is because some schools register children in one ...

The issue before us surprised us as a nation, individuals and religious groups. I am a Christian and I believe in a marriage between a man and a woman.

2 Mar 2023 in Senate:
It is also clear that in the law of Kenya, the only marriage that is recognized is heterosexual. It, therefore, surprises one to know how the Supreme Court of Kenya arrived at its conclusion. Since, I am not a lawyer, it is my understanding that the court used the law. If the law in Kenya says that we only recognize heterosexual marriages, how did they decide that a group that does not exist in law itself should exist in associations? In my understanding, it was a very clear conflict between what the Constitution says and the conclusion of the verdict ...
