  • 13 Apr 2021 in Senate: you to oversight those resources that your late dad used to fight hard for. He would always stand for allocation to counties. Whichever side of the debate, he would make sure that benefits went to our counties. I urge you that as you serve the nation as a whole, make sure you also be very specific and alert on issues that affect the people of Garissa, especially the resources that go there. Make sure they are used in a transparent manner. Thank you. view

  • 13 Apr 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to add my voice on this important Bill. I want to celebrate the Senate for ensuring that the allocation to the counties is increased in this Financial Year, 2021/2022. I want to point out three issues. I urge the county governments to ensure that a big percentage of this money goes to development projects. Most of our counties allocate money for social programmes like women groups and other small programmes like food stuffs, instead of allocating money in physical projects, which can impact the life of their citizens. County governments ... view

  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker, for also giving me a chance to congratulate Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve for having thought of this very vulnerable group. As my other colleagues have said, this is the most vulnerable group of Persons With Disability (PWDs) that is forgotten. I want to join other mothers by celebrating the mothers with this nature of children. If a mother gets such a child, she will never go anywhere. She will be reduced to just taking care of her child forever. These are mothers who will not take these children to school. They cannot take them anywhere. They ... view
  • 4 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to add my voice to this Statement by Sen. Loitiptip of Lamu County. There are quite a number of grants that we receive from international communities, the World Bank, and several other sponsors to our counties. However, when you look at how they are spent on the projects that are supposed to be supported by these grants, you rarely get the information on how much these monies were. At times, you also get projects that are done halfway. You get projects that are not being supervised. At times, they are ... view
  • 25 Feb 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to ask whether it is in order for the Chairperson of the Committee on Finance and Budget, whom I respect a lot, to be reading a BPS Report and at the same time talking about BBI. I am really trying to write a few notes on what I am supposed to contribute to. However, the Chairperson seems to be in a public participation forum of the BBI instead of him giving us the insight of the Report his Committee has brought to the Floor of the House. I want you to give us direction whether ... view
  • 23 Feb 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me a chance to condole with the family of our departed friend, Hon. Wakapee . I interacted and worked with the late Member in the 11th Parliament. This country has lost a very hardworking Member of Parliament (MP) who was a down-to-earth family man. The late Hon. Waititu spent a lot of time thinking about his constituency. On behalf of my family and the people of Kajiado County, I condole with the people of Juja Constituency, Kiambu County, and all the people of Kenya because we have lost a leader who was ... view
