I wish we could support the youth in our rural areas to invest in food security. Since agriculture is now a devolved function, I also wish our county governments invested in supporting smallholder farmers and youth carrying out agriculture. This important Statement touches on three important components. The component of public participation is a constitutional matter. When an investment is taking place in a county or certain place, public participation is very important. Some companies have leases of 99 years. They have been exploiting natural resources for many years, but doing nothing meaningful to the community. They only cause lot of pollution without taking into consideration concerns of the local community. Therefore, renewing their leases without involving community will be detrimental.
