  • 22 Feb 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. On behalf of the people of County of Kajiado, I condole with the family of the former Senator for Migori County. As my colleagues have stated, the late Sen. (Dr.) Machage was a committed and dedicated Member of this House. He brought a Motion to advocate for the medical equipment scheme that has gone a long way to assist many of our counties despite the challenges they have faced. He was a professional and a member who wanted to help our counties through upgrading our health facilities. This country has lost a professional, an expert ... view
  • 17 Feb 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker for giving me a chance to congratulate my friend, Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve, for reminding us the important world Radio Day. For many years, radio has been used as an affordable way to access information. Growing up, many of our parents did not have televisions. However, they used to get a lot of information from radio. Radio has remained relevant as a medium of getting information. Radio should give the public right, relevant and important information, especially on issues of social and economic growth of the communities. Radio should air programmes that can assist our youth ... view
  • 17 Feb 2022 in Senate: Therefore, radio as a way or medium of communication, should improve its content and be creative. I wish Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve well. She has been an active Member of this House in terms of reminding us to celebrate other institutions. view

  • 21 Dec 2021 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me a chance to add my voice to this Motion on the adoption of the Report of the Committee on Finance and Budget on the Budget Policy Statement (BPS). I wish to note the following issues on the BPS. Being a Member of the Committee on Health, I noticed that there is no budget that has been allocated for the implementation of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Bill that we have just passed as a House. This Bill was to bring smiles on the faces of Kenyans in terms of healthcare ... view
  • 21 Dec 2021 in Senate: Another issue the Committee on Health saw is that there is no information on the 50 new Level 3 Hospitals that will be built across the counties. This seems to marginalize our counties more. Most of the counties do not have Level 3 health facilities or hospitals. With indication that there is budget allocation for new Level 3 Hospitals, which is not specifically targeted to go to marginalized counties, this BPS seems to create more marginalization to those counties that do not have these facilities. view
  • 21 Dec 2021 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, on the issue of the Ministry of Education, there is little budget in terms of recruitment of more teachers. We know that at the moment because of the 100 percent transition rate, our schools are densely populated. Without teachers to handle these numbers in our public primary and secondary schools, it means that parents will pay more for the employment of Parents Teachers Association (PTA) teachers. Parents will also have to chip in more for construction of classrooms, laboratories, ablution blocks and dining halls for the students. This means that saying ‘education is free’ will not ... view
  • 21 Dec 2021 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, there is also no clarity in the BPS in terms of capitation for our universities. Most of our universities are not in a position to pay view
