  • 3 Nov 2020 in Senate: In this regard, we will ensure that we do not come to such eventualities. This is very embarrassing to the President. I do not know how 24 Bills could be signed by him into law without them passing through this House. I, therefore, congratulate the leadership of this House and everybody who took part in ensuring that this House and the Constitution is respected. I support. view
  • 1 Oct 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to also add my voice on this. I support this Motion on the extension of the time for the Committee. Sen. Kasanga, as the Chairperson, has really done a good job. Sen. Sakaja did a good job as well when he was the Chairperson. The Committee has consistently updated this House on matters of the COVID-19 situation in the country. They have given us reports on the various sectors that we have in our country, including matters to do with our county governments. I appreciate the efforts in exposing ... view
  • 24 Sep 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I congratulate Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve for coming up with this Statement. As a country, it is time for us to start thinking about accessible tourism. Persons living with disabilities face great challenges whenever they want to enjoy tourism destinations in this country. Every person in this country has a right to enjoy visiting and experiencing all the tourist destinations that we have in Kenya, especially now that we are talking about domestic tourism. Even persons with disabilities want to visit new places and identify places where they can relax and enjoy in this country. Therefore, ... view

This is not the first time the issue of extrajudicial killings is coming to this House. It has come to this House through Sen. Sakaja, the Senators for Mombasa, Kwale and Isiolo counties. It seems as if the young people of this country are always the victims. Many of them have lost trust in the police. Food security is a great and legitimate concern that we, as a country, need to look at especially now that we have had locust invasion, excessive rains and the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic. It is important for us to think about how we are going to raise our productivity or make our production more intensified. view
  • 26 May 2020 in Senate: We also need to think of how we are going to make available farm inputs for our farmers and extension support services. • 26 May 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this chance to support this Motion. I want to thank the Committee for coming up with a detailed and relevant Report that touched on various thematic areas. They have been consistent in updating this House through progress reports, from the First Report to the Sixth Report that we are discussing right now. They have also managed to engage relevant stakeholders and discussed issues affecting the country at large. They have discussed access to information, issues on transport, cash transfers and education, among other issues. In the recommendations, they recommend that there is ... view
  • 26 May 2020 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, it is also very sad to note that at least 33 counties have not supported the vulnerable in the society. However, from what Sen. Sakaja proposed that the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection will work or engage with the 33 counties to support the vulnerable in their society through the street families rehabilitation fund, I think this is a very good proposal. They also touched on the transport sector. This is a sector that has been hit hard through cross-border issues. In the morning, we heard sanitation along the highways. I believe that through this Committee, ... view
