  • 3 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: As a House, we need to act with a lot of wisdom and ensure that this institution is protected. We should always get the right results. The Committee is not against old people. We have a lot of respect for them but we need transitional leadership – leadership that can go beyond the limits that have already been set. These nominees are aged between 58 and 60. Young people in this country also need to be given an opportunity to lead. We need to be given an opportunity to have a say in the management and running of public institutions. view
  • 3 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, you can see that hon. Members are agitating passionately for this list to be rejected, maybe, because the chairman comes from Murang’a. We should appreciate that this is not about Murang'a politics. It is about national politics and the interests of Kenyans, including the children. view
  • 3 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, kindly, protect me to finish making my case. view
  • 3 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I am urging this House to rise to the occasion. Hon. Members should come out of their cocoons, where some people believe that unless one comes from their region, one must not head a certain institution. Therefore, I urge hon. Members to reject all these names. Let them be sent back. Let us support this Motion, so that we can get a fresh opportunity for Kenyans to do whatever is just to this country. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the ... view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion with a lot of reservations, with special interest in the TSC issue that was raised in Parliament. This country is undergoing a crisis in the education sector. Therefore, my expectation from this Committee; it was obliged by the Parliamentary Rules and Procedures to have carried out a thorough job. I am completely disappointed as to why the Committee never took time to summon the TSC team and hear their version of the story and also any of the Commissioners. We know that Commissioner Tirop is currently in office. Why was ... view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. On the matter of the TSC, the hon. Member said that the selection panel should go to the list that had already been forwarded here and get a name. But if you go to the TSC Act, Cap.12, it says: “If the National Assembly rejects any or all of the subsequent nominees submitted by the President---” view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: It is a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker because I wanted to get clarity from the speaker in terms of the information he is giving to this House. view
  • 26 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Motion as amended. This country has come from a background where some communities are completely marginalized not because they wished to, but because of circumstances beyond their control. view
  • 26 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: I want to thank hon. Gatobu for moving this Motion. This should not only be to avail the information, but should be enlarged to make it mandatory, so that those children are also educated. Availing the information does not necessarily mean that the children will be assisted. We should also look a little bit further and ensure that we compel the view
  • 30 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. My name is Michael Kisoi Munyao, the hon. Member for Mbooni Constituency, Makueni County. If the mysterious death of the late Senator Mutula Kilonzo can be compared to any painful experience any Kenyan has experienced, then the people of Mbooni would have a lot of pain. I personally have known the late Senator. He was a friend of mine. I remember we campaigned together very seriously in my constituency and he was a great man who stood his grounds even against the majority, if he needed to make his point clear. Hon. Speaker, Sir, the late ... view
