The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. • 26 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I just wanted to remind the Hon. Member that without Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, Kibaki would never have been a President in 2002. view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I want to give God the glory and say Ebenezer for thus far the Lord has brought us. When I was in this Parliament, I played the role of Esther, Hosea and Jonah. I was happy with all my multiple roles. When I come before the House, I am very clear about my legislative role. I am usually very focused and happy. If I take stock, I moved the Fisheries Management Act, as a Member of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives, which was the only committee I sat ... view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: I want to thank the other Members. Even as we go, I pray that God blesses you and majority of us will come back. I have done a lot of work in the region training women leaders. I have written a book called Political Leadership and Package Lessons for Women . I am hoping we will have more women as we come back. I have started writing my second book on my experience which is called Swimming with Sharks . That is the best way I can describe my relationship with my male colleagues in this House. I have swum ... view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. Perhaps just for information of Members, what normally happens is that you can sit as a caucus The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: of parties or coalition of parties on an issue of interest to you and then you prioritise and agree as that coalition, which we have done severally before. So, it is not mischievous. We did in previous parliaments. You hand it over to the Speaker and the Speaker will give that ranking. It does not mean that it is something that the majority or minority leader does on a daily basis. The whip will do it when Members have sat and agreed. It is a very common Parliamentary practice. I support. view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Chairman. Even though I support, I wish they included sexual violence before the House, which is never treated very seriously. I have been sexually violated in this House and no action was taken. When somebody undresses me in this House, that is sexual violence. You do not touch my panty. You are not Mr. Mabona. That is sexual violence. Those are the things we hope to be provided in the Standing Orders. view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Chairman, I am not talking about post office box. You know that I already addressed a letter to you, complaining that when I was in this House, there are male Members who tried to remove my dress. One pulled and tore my panty, which I have kept for historical reasons because it was an embarrassing moment for this House. It is fortunate that it happened to me who does not give a damn. If it was another Member, they may have left. Because Millie Odhiambo is fearfully and wonderfully made, I do not fear my thighs or any ... view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Chairman, I know I am not the Mover, but could Hon. Gikaria consider doing an amendment because he has the ability to do it on the Floor and include the Affirmative Action Fund? I do not know why it is not included. view
