  • 17 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, part of the reasons this school is failing and collapsing is because of posting non-locals who feel that the area is insecure and remote. Most of the time, these people are not even there. I would like the Chairman to clarify why a proposal done by leaders to the TSC to replace the current Director with Mr. Abdi Kosai Mulu as a Principal who is qualified and currently the head of Olonyiro Division in Isiolo County was denied. view
  • 17 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I join my colleagues in sending condolences to people who died in all the attacks and especially the last one. I also want to express concern about the unfortunate security situation in Mandera. These are now repeated attacks and deaths in large numbers. The life of the Governor is at risk. It is as if Mandera County is, as people there usually claim, not in Kenya. The people of the former Northern Frontier District (NFD) have over the years claimed that they are not in Kenya. But with the new Constitution and devolution, for the first ... view
  • 12 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I join my colleagues in congratulating Prof. Micere Mugo and also Sen. (Prof.) Anyang’-Nyong’o for bringing up the matter. When Sen. (Prof.) Anyang’-Nyong’o attends that function, he should not go as himself, but with knowledge that Prof. Micere Mugo is also recognized by the Senate of Kenya. He should, therefore, pass our commendations to her and to the congregation on our behalf Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. • 10 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to issue a Statement which was sought by Sen. (Dr.) Machage. The Statement was about the cholera outbreak in Kenya. On 19th February, 2015 Sen. (Dr.) Machage wanted to know the following:- (i) whether the Ministry is aware of the cholera outbreak in Migori; (ii) how many other counties by name have been affected so far, how many are hospitalized and from which areas; (iii) the number of fatalities of the scourge; (iv) level and magnitude of intervention taken by the national and county governments; (v) what measures the Government is taking to prevent ... view
  • 10 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, there are 20 technical staffs who were subdivided across the counties. I do not know how many went to Migori County. However, the most important thing that Sen. (Dr.) Machage needs to appreciate is the fact that the matter is now almost fully under control. For example, in Nairobi, it is no longer where it started. It has been fully controlled. In Migori, his own county, it has come down to less than five cases a day from a peak of 100 cases a day. Therefore, the situation is under control and measures the Government is ... view

  • 5 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand to seek a Statement from the Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations on a matter that is very urgent and serious. Right now Isiolo is on fire because of some serious border issues that might cause conflict between the communities in Isiolo County and Meru County. In the Statement, I would like the Chairman to highlight the following:- (1) Whether he is aware that there is a Nanyuki Accord that was made in 2013 between the counties of Isiolo and Meru where both parties were to keep off that border until ... view
  • 5 Mar 2015 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to thank Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. for bringing this Motion and for donating two minutes to me. I would like to go back to the issue of the colonial border and the 1992 Commission. There The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 5 Mar 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. This is about the formation of a commission. Why would the formation of a commission be a county matter? view
