  • 9 Jun 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. On this last day as the curtain of the 12th Parliament falls, I wish to start by thanking you for the great work you have done for this and the last Parliaments. I want to thank Allah for the great honour he has given me to serve the people of Wajir South. It is very important that I start by saying that it has been a very important journey for me and for the people of Wajir South. To my constituents, thank you for pursuing confidence in my leadership. To my other fellow Kenyans, ... view

  • 6 Apr 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Before I contribute to this Bill, it is quite interesting to hear from Hon. Gitonga about his early days in school. It does inspire many of us to hear the journeys that you both took together and eventually landed in this honourable House. Coming back to my contribution, it is important that we acknowledge the amendment to the National Construction Authority Bill that the Member has brought to this House. He has highlighted the critical issues that are there. It is quite important that I highlight that the consideration of young people in this ... view
  • 9 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for your kindness and generosity for allowing me to rush to my microphone. I rise to support this very invaluable Bill. I call it invaluable because we cannot put it to scale the value it is going to add to the health care workers. I speak from a point of knowledge. I have been in the health profession for the last 33 years. This Bill is therefore, timely, important and will add value to our society. We also have to know that the community healthcare workers are the backbone of our society. ... view
  • 9 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: orthopaedic surgeon. He used to do all the works that were required in the rural village. My mother was one of the best traditional physiotherapists during the time she lived in the village. She used to provide services to people who were ill in bed and give them that support that they needed when doctors and the current community health workers were not there. So, traditional community healthcare workers also need to be recognised. That is the point I would want to add to Dr. Owing’s proposal on this Bill. Traditional healthcare or community workers are also valuable people. Not ... view
  • 8 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. I support this Petition. I find that it is the right time that Kenyans have joined the rest of the world in advocating for issues to do with the environment. It is very important that we realise that the professionals and the future generation need to be considered at this particular time when climate change and environmental issues are becoming one of the biggest challenges. Therefore, I support this particular Petition and say that we need to enact laws that govern this country in terms of institutions that can propel this country’s environmental issues ... view

  • 9 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, very much, Hon. Speaker. I do concur with my colleagues. One very important thing we must acknowledge is that COVID-19 is no longer considered a pandemic but endemic. Endemicity of a disease determines the level of virulence and this is balanced through herd immunity. I am saying, albeit the opening up of the economy, that is, pubs, clubs, and closure time being taken away, it does not mean the conditions will not continue deteriorating in terms of the disease. Therefore, we must understand that rallies can become the hub of the spread of this disease. So, we must ... view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. If you may allow me, I really want to appreciate the fact that the petitioners and the Committee worked hand in hand. I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning. We have gone through the Petition and the Report that we had. We have looked at all angles to see to it that we have fairly examined the Petition and the issues that are in the Report. We realized that there have been injustices that have been happening to Kenyans. This has been happening simply because of ... view
