  • 15 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the land in question borders my constituency. The Government registered primary schools in that area. One of them is called Chemabich. Surveyors have gone and demarcated quite a large part of that area, yet the Government is telling us that it cannot give out land until it is degazetted. What steps is the Government taking to degazette that land and regularise the ownership to those people who have been there for the past 40 years? view

  • 15 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, is it in order for Dr. Mwiria to insinuate that universities in the Rift Valley Province are being managed by Kalenjins because they are in Rift Valley Province when, in fact, he knows that the Vice-Chancellors are interviewed and they succeed in the interviews? They merit those positions! view
  • 26 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Minister also confirm that the law notwithstanding, he will not issue any licence to any other company until all the amounts of over Kshs500 million owing to farmers are paid? view
  • 25 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Lands if he could consider waiving interest on the Settlement Fund Trustee (SFT) loans for Chesobeno Farm (Ex-Ndumberi Farm) October 25, 2006 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3101 in Kamara Location of Nakuru District. view
  • 25 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, there is only one Minister for Lands and I think the SFT falls under his Ministry. However, this Question has been asked in this House more than three times. The last time it was asked, the Minister for Lands promised to look into the issue of waiver of interest. The people I am talking about are given one-and-half acres of land and asked to pay Kshs42,000 for it. The interest to this money accumulates year after year. In the adjoining settlement scheme, the people living there only pay Kshs5,000 per acre. Could the Assistant Minister consider, now ... view
  • 25 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, if I heard the Assistant Minister correctly, I want to thank him. I heard him say that he was actually going to waive interest. If really I heard him correctly, I do not need to ask any question. I, instead, take this opportunity to thank him for that and hope that he will go by his word. view
  • 13 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs:- (a) in how many countries Kenya has stationed diplomatic missions; and, (b) how many of the above missions own the premises they occupy. view
  • 13 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister is now a seasoned diplomat and I am sure he is aware that many of our missions abroad are not even self- sustaining. It becomes very difficult for them to survive if they have to be renting premises abroad. There is a policy of this Government and even previous governments of not purchasing properties where the missions are placed. Idi Amin of Uganda bought a house in London which is now called Uganda House. Muammar Gaddafi of Libya at one point wanted to purchase a house for us in Tripoli which is ... view
  • 13 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, my question is: Could the Assistant Minister tell this House whether the Government's policy in terms of our missions abroad is to rent offices or to purchase and own them? view
