  • 18 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT, the following new clause be inserted immediately after Clause 19— Sector diagnostic study and assessment. view
  • 18 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 1 be amended by inserting the words “which date shall not be later than thirty days from the date of assent” immediately after the word “appoint”. The reason for this is that after the assent of the Bill, sometimes Cabinet Secretaries may delay in gazetting the operationalization of the Bill. So, this is just giving a timeframe within which the Cabinet Secretary must gazette the operationalization of the Bill. view
  • 18 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I hear what my colleague is saying, but at the same time, we recognize that there is now a Committee on Implementation and I am sure once the House and the Committees are properly active, they will ensure that all the provisions that have been passed are implemented as per the Act. view

I will not bother considering the issues of ... view
  • 11 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we are also aware that in issues where the Government departments have been seeking due advise from the Attorney-General, sometimes those departments ignore the advice and I am sure now with the new Constitution and now this Bill, it will now make it mandatory that whoever ignores the advice from the Attorney-General will do so at their own peril. view
  • 11 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Let me also congratulate the Attorney-General for the job he has done so far including bringing this Bill and also in today’s ruling where he made the interpretation of the gender issue from the Supreme Court. I am sure now the way forward has been given through the efforts of the Attorney-General and that stalemate which was to be there come the elections, is now a relief. view
  • 11 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: So, with those few remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 11 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Chairlady, I stand to oppose the amendment by the Chair, Ms. Amina Abdalla and propose that we entirely delete Regulation 45. One is that, we are actually dealing with things that are already provided for. About tax compliance, even if it is Income Tax, already the law allows the authorities even to follow you to the employer and even attach your salary. It allows them even to seize your bank account. So, really, we do not need to provide it here again. Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, on the criminal record, it is known that in any criminal activity, ... view
