  • 26 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Kenya Seed Company is the Government agency, which would ordinarily be a regulator of the market in terms of what it stores and what it imports. The Assistant Minister has talked about 1.7 million kilogrammes in reserve. How many kilogrammes of these reserves are held by Kenyan Seed Company Limited? view
  • 26 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Kenya Seed Company Limited is a Government agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, and it should ordinarily be the one regulating what it stores and what it imports. How many of the 1.7 million kilogrammes of reserve of maize seed is the Kenya Seed Company Limited holding at the moment? view
  • 26 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the essence of this Question is that companies are paid very low prices for seeds when they contract local farmers, so as to create a vacuum for them to import seeds at a higher price and sell the same to the farmer at a higher price. What is the Assistant Minister doing to ensure that this does not happen, and that farmers are paid a good price for the seeds they are contracted to produce? view
  • 26 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we realize that we are part of the international community even when it comes to football. It is not lost on us that this country has the potential for football. But I would want the Assistant Minister to clarify who calls the shorts when it comes to the management of football; is it FIFA or this country? Secondly, could he also clarify whether the Ministry has initiated any legislation to fast-track the management and issues that have been dogging FIFA for a very long time and what the Ministry intends to do about the poor state and ... view
  • 19 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Could the Minister provide details of Registration Clerks who worked for the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) during the revision of Voters’ Register exercise before the last Referendum in Bura Constituency, including the names of polling stations? (b) How many days did each clerk work? (c) Could the Minister confirm that the clerks have not been paid their dues and, if so, when will they be paid? view
  • 19 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, part c of the answer seems a bit non-committal. The Assistant Minister says he has been advised that payments were effected yesterday. However, as of yesterday the clerks in Bura had not received their pay for June. Could I get an undertaking from the Assistant Minister when the payments will be made? view
  • 19 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we and other Kenyans even in the diaspora confirm that the IIEC has done a great job so far. It would be very unfortunate for issues of payments to clerks who worked for the IIEC to overshadow the good work that is being done and the high expectations we have as Kenyans. Could the Assistant Minister confirm that this incident is unfortunate and will never be repeated? view
  • 14 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Agriculture:- (a) whether he could provide a list of large-scale seed production companies in the country; (b) how many tonnes of maize these companies are currently holding in reserve; and, (c) what plans the Ministry has to ensure that the country does not face shortage of maize seed and other seeds for planting. view
  • 14 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, indeed, the Question is insufficiently answered. So, I will have no problem. view
  • 14 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, before we adjourned the House a month ago, I had sought a Ministerial Statement from the Minister for Information and Communications that was deferred to yesterday, Wednesday, 13th October, 2010. By yesterday, I had not received any communication. I would like to know and get an indication when the Ministerial Statement will be issued. view
