  • 19 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, last week, you deferred this Question for the simple reason that the answer given was not adequate. The Assistant Minister promised to go and check facts and come back to the House. I have re-confirmed that these are not the correct facts. I do not think we are going to do this House justice if deferment of Questions is for the purpose of getting the same answers. We agreed that the Assistant Minister was going to investigate and report back to this House. You directed to that extent. This is the same answer that I have. view
  • 19 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I do not think we are going to trivialise matters that concern our constituents at the behest of politics of the kind of Mr. Wanjala. This Question was deferred last week. I had consulted with the other Assistant Minister and we had agreed that this borehole was supposed to be drilled, water piped and a tank built. This is a short-change on the part of my people. It is not in order for politicians to be brought in, in matters of this nature. view

  • 19 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Now, with sobriety, I want to give this House the facts as they are. The terms of reference of this particular project are that the water was to be struck, an electric pump installed together with piping to serve a community of about 50,000 people. The contractor did not strike the place from where he could get sufficient water to cover the community and, therefore, they changed to a hand pump that does not work. It is not civilised for 50,000 people to go to a school and draw water from a hand pump. Could ... view
  • 12 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Water and Irrigation:- (a) how much money was spent on the drilling of the borehole at Nduru Primary School in Nyamarambe Division of Gucha District, (b) why the borehole is not operational and whether the contractor has been paid full value for work done; and, (c) when the borehole will be operationalized. view
  • 12 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have no objection up to Tuesday next week as per the request of the hon. Member. view
  • 29 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the loss of lives of innocent Kenyans in this country has become the order of the day. We are always told that inquest files have been opened and that no stone will go unturned. Despite this, nobody is telling us how many stones have been turned so far and how much weight each stone carries. Could the Assistant Minister give an undertaking to this House that all cases including that of this young student who was killed will be addressed? This issue of Kenyan lives being lost like chickens either by the Mungiki or trigger- ... view
