29 Apr 2009 in National Assembly:
I want to start my contribution by saying that there are issues that politicians are required to do as a matter of necessity in order to create investor confidence. However, we have also participated in creating political instability by making various pronouncements. We can actually regulate our tongues in the interest of this nation. We complain that tourists are not coming to this country. This is because they are not too sure of what they will get next time. They are not too sure as to whether they will have the National Accord holding or people throwing stones and bottles ...

28 Apr 2009 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to contribute and support this amendment. First, let me say that someone once said that they were looking for a wise man who once saved the life of a child. I want to remind you today, Mr. Speaker Sir, that the person who was being quoted then was Solomon and I want to tell you that you have been our Solomon today for this country.

22 Apr 2009 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute and support this very wise move of suspending this debate. It is not every time that you disagree with a great colleague like Dr. Khalwale. On this score, he is extremely right. But, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I must also sound some caution. This is unfortunate because the hon. Members are extremely right! I am not in this list and I do not wish to be there because we want to include Backbenchers in the Committee. It is unfortunate that some of us behave like rogue Whips. It is ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not know whether we are going back to the Nyayometer days when they looked at somebody and said: âHe is more Nyayo than the other!â

We want to stop that kind of impunity and on move to build consensus, so that this Coalition Government can run its course and give Kenyans the reforms they want! Let us not have people who want to divide this Coalition for the purpose of maintaining the

and then we fail to get reforms! Not a single section of this House can give Kenyans reforms. It is consensus and consultations! Let us not look at Nyayometers because their time is gone! Consult! I do not want my name to be on this list, but I want to support the position that 50 per cent of members of their Committee be Back-benchers. With those few remarks, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to support.

24 Feb 2009 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion. It is true that Members of Parliament have had a Session that has been continuous but had short breaks. We now need a break. Truly, what has transpired in the last few weeks indicates that Members of Parliament are fatigued, and we, therefore, require rest. Most importantly, this country requires reconciliation and healing. Some of us leaders, when we are in funerals, we actually continuously push our people into hate. I want to plead with my colleagues, because we represent the people who ...

24 Feb 2009 in National Assembly:
We have had debates in this House where you saw a Minister of Government supposedly bound by collective responsibility, attacking another Minister on the Floor of the House shamelessly, and addressing issues which should be addressed in the Cabinet. I think we also mislead our population and we send them wrong signals. They do not know who is in the Government and who is in the Opposition. Therefore, in the spirit of collective responsibility, let us show Kenyans the right way to go, depending on where we stand. Some of us have actually castigated the Government which they are serving. ...

24 Feb 2009 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the quality of debate in this House has actually degenerated. Some hon. Members have brought this august House into disrepute. I say that with authority; some of us throw some dirty words at our colleagues. Even if you withdraw, the damage has already been done. That is what I am saying. I am suggesting that we maintain issue-oriented debate. Mr. C. Kilonzo, we want to have issue-oriented debate.

Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I did not mention Mrs. Mugo. I am talking about some previous debates. I did not even listen to Mrs. Mugo speaking. This brother of mine---
