  • 18 Apr 2024 in Senate: they want to see how Parliament will oversight itself, but the relevant Committee should do that. They should look at this matter On one hand, I agree on the suitability of that office. I have been to that office allocated to me and I have never had an office like the one I have been given. view
  • 18 Apr 2024 in Senate: I want to move into that new office like tomorrow, but at the same time, I am questioning the other concerns being raised by the Members and the general public on the length of time and cost of the project. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I support this Bill. view
  • 17 Apr 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Mine is in relation to the third part of the Question, which talks about accountability by the health facilities. While I appreciate the response by the Cabinet Secretary, I would like know the list of the health facilities that have been suspended or terminated under the NHIF and reasons for the same. I am asking because I have been made aware that there could have been some discrimination and unfair practices in this process. Therefore, the Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations is like the front end of the Senate. It is a Committee that handles crosscutting issues for all other committees. When we hear that they are addressing current issues that is the pride of this Senate. However, we have other issues, which this Committee can help this House. Madam Temporary Speaker, regarding the health issues in this country, we have done so well as a Senate on matters of agriculture and fake fertilizer. I thank the Standing Committee for Agriculture for coming out very strongly in dealing with that problem. However, the Senate is nowhere on matters of doctors’ strike, and yet, Health is a devolved function. I encourage the Standing Committee on Health, led by ... view
  • 16 Apr 2024 in Senate: I encourage my Co-chair, Sen. Mandago, and the Committee Members, including Sen. Hamida Kibwana, who is seated next to me; a very strong Member of the Standing Committee on Health, to take the lead and help in resolving the current problem of the doctors’ strike. Madam Temporary Speaker, I support. view
