  • 30 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: I thought the President would open some of the counties that had not been affected by COVID-19 drastically yesterday. Malindi Town and Watamu Town are dead completely. People have no jobs. They have nothing to eat just because of the COVID-19 protocols. I also want to ask the President to give us more money. It should pass through the National Government- Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) this time and we will give it to the people. view

  • 30 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, while I support the amendment, my fears are in what Hon. Nyikal has raised. Currently, the mortgage arrangement in the country attracts about 30 years yet it is not a big project. The PPPs are big projects that will require huge financing and, therefore, the repayment period should be longer. Therefore, I think it would not be very prudent to put a cap of 30 years. I would rather we put a cap of 50 years because we are looking at huge projects. People in this country pay mortgage for 25 years. Why do you want ... view

  • 30 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Duale, allow the Chair to listen to me. The County Integrated Development Plan in a county is a ten-year plan. Emerging issues come in. For example, COVID - 19 has come in. It is not part of that County Integrated Development Plan. If you want to tie public private partnership in the counties to County Integrated Development Plan, we are actually telling them that there will not be any, because there are emerging issues that come out and need intervention and public private partnership would be the only solution to that intervention.
