  • 26 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to thank Hon. Jude. I know the pain he has. He is lucky he is talking of the colonial masters. I want to give a case… Three-quarters of Members of Parliament live in Mavoko. The land issue in Mavoko is emotive just as it is in other parts of Kenya. This statement is being sought at the right time. The Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Lands has had many petitions from the people of Mavoko in Machakos County. The petitions are majorly on the issue of land ownership by big companies and ... view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The originator and drafter of this amendment, Hon. Wangari, has a lot of passion for it. She has just returned from maternity leave. I heard her take pride in how she has bonded with her child because we sit on the same Committee. Sometimes I see her calling to check on the state of the baby. I know she means well by this amendment. Given that the rate of barrenness in this country is high maybe due to lifestyles, the urgent need to adopt children in this country is very high. Looking at the ... view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: pathetic conditions. Some of those children are not properly brought up, either because the operators of those childrenhomes do not have enough to feed the children or they do not have enough materials to make the children in those homes feel at home. I encourage Kenyans to adopt. We have seen dramas in this country where foreigners have had a chance to adopt. In one way or the other, there is a lapse in the law where we encourage foreigners to adopt our children and we do not know. One Member said that for one child who was adopted in ... view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. With a lot of respect for the Leader of the Majority Party, we do not go to church because of alcohol. But members of the Muslim community do not go to the mosque because they are chewing Miraa and Muguka. So, if we are talking… The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I agree with the amendments of the Chairperson of the Finance Committee. view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I want some advice from you in as much as I support this tax exemption. I do not know where to start because affordable housing was brought to Mavoko and they took 4,000 acres. I am wondering how we will exempt developers from building on land that has been taken away for free without compensating the owners. view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: I think, sometimes, we have to be realistic. As Members, we represent Kenyans in this House. In as much as we want to say we are building houses for citizens, we cannot demolish houses, exempt materials and give land for free; the owners of that land do not benefit in any way. It is my humble request to the President of this country to realise that land belongs to the people of Mavoko. Before it is given for affordable housing, they should also be considered in building of affordable houses and enjoy tax exemption of materials coming from wherever. view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. view
  • 18 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I could not agree more with Hon. Duale today. I am surprised at how the senators are behaving like “flower girls” to governors. Today, I call upon all Kenyans to stop paying any fees to the county governments because they do not declare the locally collected revenue. view
