I also support the Members who feel that the Ministry in charge of national heritage should play a central role in identifying national heroes and landmarks that can add to the history of this country. We cannot keep on legislating on the same things over and over again. This is something which should have been thought of 38 years ago when our first President died. • 17 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to commend the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing. I know they have received so many petitions. There seems to be a disconnect between the implementing agencies and the recommendations of the House. For example, looking at the bridge which connects Kathiani and Kangundo constituencies, a petition was brought by Hon. Mbui in February and up to date, nothing has been done. The Chair seems to have information that the works are ongoing while on the ground, nothing is happening. Before I comment, I intervened to see whether I could be given a chance to know the status of my Petition which I brought here in April, querying the modality and methodology used to appoint managing directors (MDs) at the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) and East African Portland Cement Company. The two companies lie in the middle of Ukambani. Since their inception, no single local person has ever been an MD of either company. view
