  • 4 Mar 2021 in Senate: It is also noteworthy to note that the Calendar of MPs especially for Senate who are representatives of the counties. One can imagine the load of the Senator for, for example, Nairobi City, Kiambu, Kakamega and many other counties including West Pokot with it vastness. A Senator is required to interact with every member of the public who deserves their audience. I think it is an ideal time. view
  • 4 Mar 2021 in Senate: We are looking forward to a time when we will introduce the use of technology during Senate sittings like we are doing now. We should ask ourselves if it is possible to have some virtual sittings such that, for example, when the Senator for West Pokot is somewhere in the valleys of West Pokot, as long as he can log in, he can engage with the Senate and still carry out his primary and most important role of representing his people and understanding their needs. view

He was a man of unique distinction and led what one would simple describe as a chequered life. Many people did not know much about him, but I knew him because he was a personal friend. We campaigned together in 2013 and 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket. Mr. Speaker, Sir, late Hon. Waititu rose from being a farmhand to a coffee plantation foreman, and later became a manager. Institutions like the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KeMRI) should be strengthened and given more funding, to ensure that as they do other research, they do more research on cancer. It is a pity in this country that when somebody is diagnosed with cancer, most of us seek a ticket to go to India. The Indian Government has invested a lot in terms of research on cancer. Why can we not bring India to Kenya by making sure that we not only sponsor ... view
