  • 12 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as we laud the Minister for that very comprehensive answer, I would like him to indicate the number of trees that have been planted and at the same time, indicate in which constituency they were planted because they are either in Tigania East or Igembe North. view
  • 12 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I thank the Minister for that very able Statement, I would like him to indicate to this House what action and advice he has given on orphans, children of HIV/AIDS victims and the very poor in the society, so that they are allowed to continue learning and complete their studies without interruption. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as we acknowledge the lengthy and clear Statement given by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government, could he explain or indicate to this House the extra-ordinary measures the Government is taking to enhance the volume of the National Strategic Grain Reserve (NSGR) so that Kenyans will not in future suffer from malnutrition, hunger and desperation? view

  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: First of all, I want to thank the Mover of this Motion, hon. Ethuro, because this is a very important Motion. Secondly, I would like to register my appreciation for the good work that has been by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance and his Assistant Ministers. We have seen their good work for the last two years. The objective of this Motion is not to castigate that credible performance of the Ministry. Very recently, we recall that the Minister assured this House that those projects on Economic Stimulus Package that were not funded, their funds were re-voted. ... view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: The CDF funds have already transformed the lives of Kenyans. We have seen good work done in all the constituencies in this nation. We would like this good work to continue so that many Kenyans benefit from it. For instance, we have had heavy rains in the country and our road networks were destroyed. CDF funds were spent to repair these roads. We noted that even students were not able to go to schools because of lack of school fees. We used some of the CDF funds to assist these students. The CDF funds have also done well in the ... view
  • 5 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity to also join my colleagues make some contribution to this Motion. First of all, let me support the Motion as presented by the Minister and indicate that the Minister very ably presented the Motion. One critical observation that I have noted on the new Bill concerns the control or the impediment that is being created by the new powers enshrined in the new Bill. This one hinges on the hawking of tea in the country. Hawking of tea has really affected many homes. Tea is stolen from the farms and ... view
  • 5 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Therefore, when tea is stolen by these people, again we are not certain of the quality of that tea and this will also affect the image of the quality of our tea in the international market. So, if we are not careful to stick to this Bill, the tea industry and the growth that has been associated with this country for a long time is going to go down the drain. We must, therefore, guard the quality of tea in this market. Concerning the constitution of the new Board, I would urge the Minister that those who will be appointed ... view

  • 30 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has admitted that the four youths were murdered and their bodies dumped into Ngubi and Kinale forests. This is a very serious matter. When will the Government eliminate completely the extra- judicial killings of the youth by the security agents? These extra-judicial killings have caused a lot of anguish, pain and suffering to families and to the nation. view
