  • 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with the alarming information given by the hon. Member that money amounting to more than Kshs50 million has been defrauded, what additional steps is the Ministry likely to take to contain this serious threat to customers? view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, because of the seriousness of the issue of resettlement of IDPs, and aware that the Assistant Minister has indicated that they have considered 50 farms, could he indicate to this House how much money the Ministry has set aside to make sure that this issue is settled once and for all? view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Report. First, let me indicate that the Chairman of this Committee, Mr. Kioni, did a commendable job. He led this Committee very bravely and made very fantastic recommendations that can improve the lives of our youth in this country. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the Members who assisted in this Committee by way of team working and giving co-operation. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, one thing I have noted is the rate of school dropouts. The rate of dropouts from our schools has dramatically affected the entire ... view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, we noted that the Kazi kwa Vijana Programme (KKV) would have benefitted the youth of this country but it was mismanaged at the disadvantage of our youth. That programme is very important and must be well-managed and spread out to all the areas of this country. More money should be allocated to this programme. The resources should be well-managed, accounted for and distributed properly. view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: With regard to the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), the terms and conditions attached to it must be reviewed if the youths of this country are to benefit. We have dams and irrigation schemes in this country where the youth could be engaged and keep them away from unnecessary activities. The groups that we have noted in this Report total to 14 and this is a major concern. The Government must take its responsibilities seriously. It should even join with the church so that we can save the youth of this nation. view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, with those few remarks, I support the Report. view
  • 22 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while I thank the Assistant Minister for giving a very lengthy and elaborate answer, it has come out very clearly that the rate of crime shot up after the convicts were released. What specific measures has he taken against this group that is really terrorizing innocent wananchi in Western Province? view
  • 22 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir; I also rise to very strongly support this Motion. It is important to follow the necessary procedures so that we do not create any disharmony in the society. On this issue of salaries for Members of Parliament, it is almost clear in our minds that wananchi have already spoken. They have even started going to the streets to express their position. Some churches in this nation have also expressed their dissatisfaction and even workers and trade unions have already spoken. According to the discussions and feelings of these various groups of people, they have been ... view
  • 21 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, what steps has the Ministry taken to ensure that newly posted DOs have offices? view
  • 21 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to support this very important Motion. This is a very noble idea and a better chance for those who were not able to be admitted to our public universities to have an opportunity to go and learn. The manner in which we execute, or manage, this programme is disadvantageous to the parallel degree students. There are glaring challenges that need to be addressed. One of the challenges that the parallel degree students face at these universities is unfairness when you come to the issue of fees. These students ... view
