  • 8 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my last question was: Could the Minister, therefore, get more time to look at the answer because she says she is not aware of what I am alluding to? She wants to give a comprehensive statement here not only on Limuru, but on the whole country. So, the Question can come again and she can give all the details. view
  • 7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife August 7, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2439 the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that wild animals, especially monkeys, are currently on the rampage at Nguirubi area of Ndeiya Location in Limuru Constituency, and have recently destroyed maize, potatoes and beans and even killed kid goats? (b) What measures will the Ministry take generally to deal with human/wildlife conflict of the nature in "a" above? (c) When will the Ministry document the loss incurred by the residents of the affected area and compensate ... view
  • 7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the answer that I have got is not satisfactory and I want to bring to the attention of the Assistant Minister the fact that the same answer was given on 26th April, 2006 in this House by the Minister. He said:- "Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Ministry has initiated a review of the amendment so that there can be sustainable corrections for compensation". That is the same answer I am getting two years later. The rangers and sergeants who have been sent to Limuru may have been sleeping because I have not seen them. Could the Assistant ... view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I appreciate what the Minister has said that the bridgee is going to be constructed to the standard width of seven metres. But if you look around the country, there are so many of these narrow bridges. Could the Minister inform the House what plans his Ministry has to ensure that most of these bridges are of standard size of seven metres wide? view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Education:- (a) whether he could give the exact number of teachers employed by August 6, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2357 Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) in all public primary schools in Limuru Constituency; (b) whether he could give the cumulative amount of money paid to these teachers per year; and, (c) what steps he is taking to ensure these teachers are absorbed in the Teachers Service Commission and indicate when this will be effected. view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I appreciate that the Question came before the recruitment exercise commenced. However, we realise that in public schools, Kshs2.4 million per year is paid by the parent. Could the Minister confirm that those who will be recruited will be enough for the slots that are currently available in Limuru so that parents do not pay a single penny to these teachers any more? view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am still not satisfied with the issue of employment of these primary school teachers. This is because parents have been paying Kshs2.4 2358 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE August 6, 2008 million to these teachers. I need to tell parents what to pay if the Minister is not going to employ enough teachers. Could the Minister tell us, out of the 68 teachers, how many will be sent to primary schools in Limuru? view
  • 31 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Roads:- (a) whether he is aware that Nduota-Limuru road has not been carpeted for a long time and is in a serious state of disrepair; (b) how much money the Ministry has allocated for the recarpeting of this road in the 2008/2009 financial year; and, (c) what plans he has this financial year to ensure this important road linking Kiambu West and Kiambu East districts, and serving one of the main hospitals is repaired and re-tarmacked. view
  • 31 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for that good attempt. However, I would like him to tell us why he has not considered tarmacking and doing anew, the 14 kilometres which is going to remain. He is only going to tarmac 3.5 kilometres. Therefore, the 14 kilometres which leads to the hospital which serves both Kiambu East and Kiambu West is going to be left as a patched up road and therefore, not in a good state. view
  • 31 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to appreciate the fact that the Assistant Minister has informed this House that the detailed designing for the rehabilitation of Ngorongo-Githunguri Road and an access road to Nazareth Hospital is under way. I would like the Assistant Minister to confirm to this House that after the detailed design, those works will be undertaken within the next financial year. view
