Education Act, 2013, and thank her for bringing the Motion to this House. I also thank her for her dedication to the needs of Persons with Disability. She is living up the role that she represents in this House; the needs of persons with disability. For a long time, we have had issues with children with disability, where parents do not know what to do with those children. Some of them are not aware that it is a condition within, which the children can lead a normal life without any hindrances. For a long time, these children have been hidden ...

On a point of order, Madam Temporary Speaker. I would also like to inform Sen. Farhiya that there are certain things that do not have translations. If she did, the meaning would be lost. In her explanation, Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve tried to expound the meaning of ‘ Utu ’ in English. Sen. Farhiya is, therefore, out of order.

On a point of order, Madam Temporary Speaker. I would like to bring Sen. Musuruve to order. We will have an opportunity to discuss the BBI Report. I am a supporter of the BBI Report, but I urge her to focus on the Motion brought by Sen. Nyamunga so that we do not lose the meaning and issues that are in that Motion.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to inform Sen. Halake that there are some things that cannot be translated or expressed properly in English but they come out better in mother tongue. Sen. (Prof.) Ekal has actually translated what he said. Therefore, he is not out of order.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also want to join my colleagues and the Standing Committee on Education led by Sen. (Dr.) Zani in celebrating teachers during the World Teachers’ Day. Mr. Speaker, Sir, any knowledge, value and skill that anyone has are all attributed to a teacher. The first teacher is a mother. Even as we sit here and demoralize teachers, as Governments or people, we should remember that everything we know, every value we hold and every skill we practice, we have acquired it from a teacher in whatever form. Mr. Speaker, Sir, as we celebrate teachers on ...

Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. You spoke in Kiswahili and I got into the mood for Kiswahili, then, I realized that I cannot sustain the conversation beyond two sentences. Allow me to continue in English. I join my colleagues in supporting the extension of the time for the Ad hoc Committee on COVID-19 Situation in Kenya. When we had our first case of COVID-19, we did not know how to behave, as presented by Sen. (Eng.) Hargura. There were arguments of whether or not we should sit, as a Parliament, in the midst of this. We argued that since ...

They gave us a good oversight report on the management of the virus at the county and national levels. The reason I support the extension is because COVID-19 is with us. We still need them to focus, rather than having these issues taken to a Standing Committee on Health, for example, where many other matters are handled. It is better that we maintain this Committee that is chaired by Sen. Kasanga who has done a great job. We should give this Committee time to continue focusing on the issues because COVID-19 is still here with us. In fact, it is ...
