On Clause 37, the Committee proposes to delete paragraph (c) which relates to non- justifiable matters and (g) relates to recovery of debts. The Committee’s view is that we should not have unnecessary or discriminatory exceptions to the grant of legal aid. By deleting those two, we remove unnecessary and discriminatory exceptions to the grant of legal aid. This particular proposal covers a person or an institution with expertise in the area of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) engaged by the service to specifically conduct an ADR. What Hon. Okoth may not know is that we have accredited ADR system in this country, be they arbitrators, mediators or members of the chartered institute of arbitration.   • 3 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: I would also wish to quickly alert Hon. Okoth that, sometimes, alternative dispute resolution is much cheaper and gives you a resolution faster than going through the entire court process with the legal aid service provider who would be the NGO. view
