This issue has made the headmistress of this school a fugitive. She is threatened because of fighting for the rights of her students. In Nairobi, we have untouchables as the Member for Westlands has said. I would like the Committee, which has done a very good job, to go further and ask that the headmistress stops being intimidated. I am sure people would wonder what Nairobi County would have to do with wildlife conservation management, but what has shocked me is that even the Committee, in their very good report, did not realise that we have a national park in Nairobi and that there are issues surrounding this particular national park. I want to plead with the Chair of the Departmental Committee not to withdraw his amendment that provides for the nomination to the Board by the NYC and the National Gender and Equal Opportunity Commission (NG&EOC). I think that when the Committee was looking at the matter, they must have realised that we must remove the provision for nomination on Board by Cabinet Secretaries – which we have been doing in this House regularly on all other matters.
