  • 7 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. We understand that it is the responsibility of KWS or the Ministry to compensate those people who are either killed or injured by wild animals. But in a situation where two people have been injured, what is the responsibility of the Ministry to ensure that these people are taken to hospital and even the hospital bill paid because these wild animals are protected by the Ministry? view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security the following Question by Private Notice. a) Is the Minister aware that on 14th September, 2010 police officers from Wamba Police Station assaulted one Mr. Leakono at Nkaroni village, locked him up and released him after three days without leveling any charges against him and that on 19th September, 2010 two Administration Police officers based at Lodungokwa Administration Post assaulted one Mr. Taata Lekooro who was later admitted to Wamba Mission Hospital? (b) Why did the police, led by the Isiolo OCPD, also ... view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: That is the position, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the condition of one of the persons who has been admitted to Wamba Mission Hospital due to brutalities committed against him by the Administration Police officers is actually deteriorating. I request that the Minister should visit this patient and see how his condition is and if there is a possibility of referring him for further medical examination. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Assistant Minister for Forestry and Wildlife:- (a) to provide the names, the numbers and the details of people killed and injured by wild animals and the action taken in each case in the last five years in Samburu East District; (b) to state by name those compensated and the amount paid; and, (c) to state the action he is taking to reduce the human-wildlife conflict in the area. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I appreciate the answer given by the Assistant Minister but I want to seek your indulgence because my Question was specific. I was talking about deaths and people who have been injured in Samburu East District by wildlife but the answer the Assistant Minister has given is covering the larger Samburu; Samburu North and Samburu Central. If you look at the first part of the question, the Assistant Minister has said that a contingent of 40 rangers is stationed in Maralal. That is in Samburu Central. It has nothing to do with Samburu East because ... view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. We deplore the poor services from the KWS in Samburu East. This is why they are not able to give accurate information. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the reason why the 400 plus nurses were not paid was due to the fact that the said nurses had not processed their bank accounts. Could the Assistant Minister tell the House whether there is an alternative way of paying these nurses because making them to wait for payment for six months is subjecting them to a lot of suffering? Is there no alternative way of paying them, even if it means paying them through the DCs offices, or by voucher? view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. On top of the Statement being sought by hon. Ethuro with regard to the problems we are facing in northern Kenya, we are equally concerned about the food situation in northern Kenya. I would like to plead with the Chair that this matter be given proper attention and if possible, the Minister should bring a Statement this afternoon because the situation is critical. People are really starving and collapsing every other day in the market due to scarcity of food. The Government should take this matter very seriously. view
  • 29 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister further explain his response? Besides using parents’ particulars to be able to identify new applicants, why could the Government not use security intelligence officers to isolate Kenyans from non-Kenyans rather subjecting new applicants to unnecessary vetting? view
