  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Defence the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that 17 expectant women have suffered miscarriages and several buildings have cracked due to intensive firing of heavy artillery at Laresoro near Archer’s Post? (b) Could the Minister consider stopping the firing of heavy artillery immediately to avoid further damage and re-locate future military exercises away from human settlements? view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for the second time, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Defence the following Question by Private Notice.
Deputy Speaker, Sir, if you look at the Question, you will see that it is actually a grievous matter. It involves the lives of the people. We are talking of 17 women who have already had miscarriages because of these heavy artilleries. As I speak, the firing is still continuing. This is an issue that needs to be taken seriously. I would really request the Chair that the Question be deferred to this afternoon, so that the Minister takes an appropriate action. view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Education:– (a) whether he could state the number of adult literacy centers, the number of registered adult learners and the number of permanent and temporary teachers in Samburu East District; (b) when he will post a district adult education officer to the District; and, (c) whether he could provide a breakdown of the number of adult learners who sat for national examinations for the last five years and their ratings in performance. view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. While I thank the Assistant Minister for the answer, I would like him to explain why there are few adult literacy centers? There is only one permanent teacher and 10 part time teachers? Is that not discouraging adult learners from joining adult literacy programmes? view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the questions are connected. I am only asking him what reasons he has for having very few adult literacy classes and whether by so doing, he is not discouraging adult learners from joining the programme. view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, from the results posted, I can see that the performance in national examinations is very poor. What arrangement does the Ministry have to improve performance in national examinations? It is also clear that there are no adult education officers to supervise these centres. view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister explain whether this non-payment of allowances to the Land Control Board members is only applicable to Makueni District or it also affects other parts of the country? What action is he going to take to ensure that this anomaly is corrected? view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to know from the Assistant Minister whether the “ADJUVANT” vaccine really exists in the world and why it is not being used in Kenya, considering the fact that malaria is a major killer disease in the country? view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Bw.
