• 6 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has told this House that last year they retrenched about 121 workers. After retrenching those 121 workers last year, the sports unit at KBC was disbanded. Even now, they do not have a sports unit. Some of those workers who were retrenched were re-employed. Could the Assistant Minister confirm to this House whether the reason why a few were re-employed was because of the World Cup? Is that not corruption? Why were they re-employed? view

Right now, many former workers and retirees have not been paid their dues. Some of them have worked for the corporation for more than 50 years. What is the Assistant Minister doing to make sure that those retirees, and people who will be retired, will be paid their dues in good time? view

Members who are in this House were included. That is why the expenditure was so high. We know 100 copies of the report cost more than Kshs1 million. Could the Assistant Minister confirm or deny that each copy which was produced cost about Kshs10,000? Why was the first publication destroyed? view

The power sector had loaned money to many organisations in this country. Up to now, the people who took money from that organisation have not been taken to court. What is the Ministry doing to make sure that the people who were mentioned in the Nyanja Report will be arraigned in court? view

Right now, we have only one fire-fighting equipment in Nairobi City Council. When will the Government buy fire-fighting equipment for all councils in this country? view

However, we find that school children have a lot of problems going to school nowadays. What measures will the Ministry take to make sure that school children who travel using trains would be given an easier way to travel from Eastlands to the City centre? view
