Hon. Deputy Speaker, you look elegant in that seat. I cannot sit before I acknowledge that fact. Thank you for wearing that fabulous African dress. You look so good as you preside over this House. Thank you also for supporting the Kenya Women Parliamentarian Association’s (KEWOPA) theme of supporting our local designers and fundis so that they can put food on their tables. Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker.

Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. I also want to add my voice to this matter. It is true that Hon. Chepkonga was not in the House when The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

this matter was debated. It is important to respect this matter having been brought to this august House, debated and some constituencies having gained from it. As I speak, I have 300 schools in my constituency. I know Hon. Chepkonga does not have the same number. There are constituencies in this country that have 10 schools yet we are given the same amount of money. This has brought some fairness because not much has been added to those constituencies with more than six wards, but an additional gain. When Hon. Chepkonga spoke, he addressed ‘they’. I do not know why ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. First, I would like to thank the Member for Kamukunji, Hon. Yusuf, for raising the matter. Our constituents are being misused by mobile companies. I would like to give you an example of three locations in my constituency called Mutha, Kasaala and Kanziko. Those three locations can have no network for a week. When someone purchases bundles that expire in seven days, it is important that mobile companies tell us where they take those bundles. I would like to ask Hon. KJ to request for a refund for the people of Kitui South and others ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me a chance to make a comment on these petitions. I would like to make a comment on the one that has been raised by the Hon. Vincent Musyoka Kawaya concerning pollution of Athi River. When Athi River is polluted, it pollutes the three Ukambani counties in the lower eastern: Kitui, Machakos and Makueni. In my constituency where this river flows, my constituents are using water which is green in colour. When it is not raining or the water levels are not low, the water The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is ...

becomes cleaner but is not good enough for human consumption. I would like to ask the Committee as they look at it to be bold enough and ask the institutions that test the water to identify which impurities are in that water and call out on those companies so that this matter is brought to rest. It was raised in the 12th Parliament but nothing much was done. Hon. Speaker, it is important that before these companies are given permission to operate upstream, health impact assessments are done first so that they can tell their impacts on people living downstream. ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Let me take this opportunity to congratulate Madam Lucy. For the two terms that I served as the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Health and also as the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Lands, she was extremely useful. For the few days we have been privileged to sit in your panel, Ms. Lucy has been very useful. Hon. Mutuse can bear me witness that a few weeks ago, she had to make sure that procedure is followed. So, I congratulate her and as she goes to do her future activities, I would encourage her ...

Thank you very much, Hon Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion by Hon. Kiarie. First of all, I would like to congratulate and thank him for taking up what he did when he was in school many years ago. Hon. KJ is one the examples of young people who started being artists very early in life, and he is still doing very well even as a Member. Hon. Deputy Speaker, this Motion focuses on getting 2 per cent and ring-fencing it from the NG-CDF allocation to ensure that this money goes to support our local ...
