  • 5 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: been a good training ground for you. You have served as a very good Speaker for two terms and it is only fair that you move up to the next level. The Petitioner has a good reason. We need to listen to him and if he convinces us like he has with my brother from Meru, I will also be following keenly to see if it has merit, so that I can support it. For the time being, without having the benefit of the information that he has or the thinking behind his Petition, I support it. view

  • 5 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. There is an hon. Member who has walked in and sat where Hon. Millie Odhiambo normally sits. I cannot tell whether she is really Hon. Millie Odhiambo. We would want the Member to identify herself. I thought the late Hon. Orie Rogo Manduli had walked into the House. We need the Member to identify herself or else we have a stranger in the House. view

  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for considering the face of Kenya on this Petition. You have looked at it broadly, which is a good way to capture the feelings and the mood of the country on matters violence. I agree with my colleagues who have spoken ahead of me. The violence that has been meted on innocent people over the years is completely unacceptable. It was not necessary because I know the petitioner had done nothing to deserve what he got as a family or the damage they suffered as a family. I can relate with this because we lost ... view
  • 28 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Chairman. Having listened to all of them, if we go the way we are with the amendment, we will make the Chairman of the Board an executive chairman. That is not envisaged in this proposal. We want to separate powers by having an executive CEO, but not an executive Chairman. view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I sympathise and empathise with the students involved because their parents have invested heavily and the students have invested their time and ambitions yet at the end of it all, they are told that it is not possible for them to graduate and be recognised for the courses that they have been trained in. It is not fair. It is painful to the parents. That should not happen again. The ruling of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research should be a precedent that should be used across the board because we have had several of ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: them to finish and then tell them that they are not accepted or recognised in Kenya. By then, we would have lost money in form of foreign currency to those countries as well as the students’ time and money for parents who have invested and denied themselves so much to take their children through university only to be told that it is not possible for them to use that knowledge. We need to come up with a more practical way of measuring the capacities and abilities of students other than examinations because there are some students who are gifted in ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I second the Bill. We want to take this early opportunity to thank the Members for the support they have shown. This is because we believe by having this Bill in place, we will introduce some sanity and orderly way of doing things in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I second. view
