Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to issue the following Statement. About two days ago, the Member for Mathioya, Mr. Wambugu sought information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confirm that the body of a constituent of his, Ms. Esther Muthoni Ngarega, of Passport No.A1746327, who had died in Saudi Arabia had been brought home. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to inform the House that, in consultation with Ms. Ngarega’s father and mother this morning--- Mr. Ngarega discussed with me and we sent an officer to the airport who confirmed that the remains of ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. I would like to inform the House that Madam Esther Muthoni Ngarege (Passport No.A1746327) who died in Saudi Arabia will be brought to Kenya tomorrow. The Kenyan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia confirmed the same. They are bringing back the remains by tomorrow. By tomorrow, I should be able to inform the House the time the body will arrive.

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, to be honest with you I am not able to give that answer in the affirmative, but I can assure you that the information that Kenya’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia gave to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning was that they had verified with the police in Jeddah and confirmed that the body was of Ms. Esther Muthoni Ngarega. Maybe the only request I would expect the hon. Member to make is that when the body arrives tomorrow at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) the family members be there to ascertain that it is ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, unfortunately, it has taken a period of six months for the body to be brought back home; there have been tiresome and involving formalities. The truth is that it is Kenya’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia who has worked tirelessly to make sure that he raised the funds for expenses related to the body, to buy the coffin and pay the airfreight, so as to bring the body back home. I am sure the hon. Member is aware that at various times we have requested that this House looks at this issue seriously, so that some funds ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand here to congratulate a great man. I happen to be a son of a man who worked with the President. On several occasions, when we would ask him how he would rate the people he worked with, my father once commented and said President Kibaki is the President Kenya would never have and is always much deeper than you see him. I am glad that Kenyans made him the President of this country. Finally, Mr. Speaker, Sir, on behalf of the people of Gusii County, I appreciate and we will always honour the fact that ...

Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I totally agree with what hon. Wambugu has said. This matter has been brought to the House more than six times. I made a specific request to the Speaker in order for this matter to be sorted out once and for all. I think it makes sense for this matter to go back to the Ministry because some of the answers that we are having are inconsistent and not conclusive. I feel that we would be doing hon. Wambugu and the people who elected him a de-service if we do not conclusively sort out this ...
