  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to congratulate the Assistant Minister for the answer he has given. However, he has stated clearly that there are two curricula that are going on at the same time in training students in our colleges. He has even mentioned that they are mostly private institutions. That means that there are some that are Government institutions. The two curricula that are running are the old one and the new one. They have been allowed by the same Ministry. We are subjecting our citizens to both trainings. One is accepted by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board ... view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, my Question is very specific. There are students who have already graduated, but who are suffering out there because they cannot get jobs. • 24 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to contribute to the Budget Speech that was read in this House a few days back. There are many service Ministries and departments in this Government, and I want to comment on a few. June 24, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 1353 Regarding Education, we have given it some reasonable funding, but the teacher/pupil ratio is still an issue in this country. • 24 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to propose that the Members who have carried the business of this House out there; to debate it in funerals and barazas should desist from the same. I want to request the Chair to direct this to be done. If we pay these taxes, then it 1354 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES June 24, 2008 should directly benefit the people of this country and not be kept in the Consolidated Fund. • 7 May 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, a similar Question was raised in this House recently and the Minister for Education is on record as having informed this House that no Kenyan student will suffer because of lack of free secondary education funds. Today, the Assistant Minister is saying that we should inform him of individual schools that have not received these funds. It is common knowledge that it is the same Ministry that registers secondary schools. Therefore, the Assistant Minister should be aware of the schools which have received the funds and which ones have not. When will all the Kenyan secondary schools ... view
  • 7 May 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my question was: When will the money be released to all the secondary schools? The Ministry is aware of the number of secondary schools in this country. We have come to the second term of this year, and yet the Assistant Minister is blaming the schools for not submitting complete data. These schools are under his jurisdiction. Are we going to wait for the Assistant Minister to ask us which secondary have not received these funds so that they have easy time? That way, we will drag on forever. The year is almost coming to an end ... view
  • 29 Apr 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to seek clarification from the Minister. He has told the House that the disease was reported in the country in March 2006 and, since then, the Ministry has vaccinated 168,000 animals. That is the vaccine that the Ministry was able to acquire. Will the 720 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES April 29, 2008 Ministry not take a similar period with a disease that will kill 90 per cent to 100 per cent of our livestock? We want to see the seriousness of the Ministry. The communities in the north are worried that a similar disease might occur and ... view

  • 19 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: First and foremost, I want to thank God for seeing this country once again go back to normalcy. The trend we had taken was to destruction. That is why I want to thank God for seeing us back to normalcy. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, allow me to thank His Excellency the President and the Prime Minister-designate, hon. Raila Odinga, for quickly going into action and ensuring that we have a peace accord, which this House passed last evening.
