  • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Jambo la nidhamu, Mhe Naibu Spika. Nataka kujua ikiwa Mhe. Kapteni Ruweida ako na nidhamu kwa kuongea mambo ya kabila fulani akiwashutumu kwa kuingilia mambo ya ardhi ilhali tunaongea juu ya Petition inayohusu ardhi ya mama Wambui. view

  • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Members normally ask Questions because of pressing matters. Two weeks before we went on recess, I went to the Table Office and raised a Question concerning my constituents, particularly on the Kenya Forest Service. As we speak today, the Kenya Forest Service has evicted about 500 families from Sosio Forest. That is a humanitarian crisis. When we ask such Questions, we want them to be prioritised in the Order Paper so that these issues are addressed urgently. I want to ask that you order the Clerk to put my Question that is at the table ... view

  • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Having listened to the Speakers, I realise that we might not be on the same page. Hon. Keter has removed the requirements for anybody seeking employment; that you do not need to seek DCI, EACC and all those nonsense clearances. Before people get employment, they are sent to go and get HELB certificates and all those things. It is something that has made it difficult for those seeking for jobs. Hon. Keter has made easier in that once you have been offered employment, that is now the stage at which you can be able to do your background checks. However, ... view
  • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: can give your name to HELB so that you can start being deducted; if you owe Fuliza money and whatever, so that some money can be deducted. I think this is progressive. We need to also look for a way of making Kenyans get their national IDs in a very simple way. Currently, many youths have not been able to register as voters because the processing of their national IDs is so tedious and complicated. When you go there, somebody asks you for your totem. The younger generation do not even know which clan they belong to – their animal ... view
  • 21 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to comment on this Petition on mistreatment of Kenyan domestic workers in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries. As the Committee looks into it, I wish it could develop a bilateral agreement that Kenya Government can sign with those countries that guarantees safety. It is because this is a very big industry. As an industry where employment is created for these domestic workers, there is no way we can do without it. It is a livelihood. It is an opportunity for them. But, we can have a way of ... view

  • 19 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I support the first Petition directed to the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock on the issue of livestock feeds. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs), especially when it comes to BT cotton, maize and other crops like soya beans, are a common practice in European countries, Brazil and North America. We have been very slow in accepting what science has to offer. As the Committee looks into this, we have a body within the country that looks into approval of GMO foods and technology. The Committee could look into this and identify technology that can be of ... view
