13 Oct 2021 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I support this amendment, especially New Clause 5B (b) which provides that, if someone becomes the Chair of the Board, they should not become an agent or even be employed by the Board. He or she should cease being a member. In that way, it prevents conflict of interest.

13 Oct 2021 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I want to persuade the Chair to make a further amendment because New Clause 15A(b) says, “...provide a sample of the sugar”. Whom are you providing the sample to? I would want him to say, “provide a sample to KEBS” because KEBS is the one that keeps the standards. It will say, “...provide a sample of the sugar to be imported to KEBS and pre-import verification certificate from the country of origin”. To whom are you giving that pre-import certificate? It has to be clear. You remember the issue of the mercury sugar. Is ...

12 Oct 2021 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On the first Petition on autoimmune diseases, some Members may not understand what autoimmune diseases are. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is an autoimmune disease. You can talk of diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis. One of our colleagues, Hon. Mukwe, who died while serving in this Parliament, had Rheumatoid Arthritis. So, this is not a strange disease. It is a common disease. Majority of the poor people have type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. So, we need to give it due consideration. Somebody should not die because of having a disease that is inherited. So, when the Committee looks at ...

7 Oct 2021 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. My first comment will be on the Petition on the National Prayer Breakfast. It is a good Petition, but asking for a public holiday is missing the point. We need to work hard and be productive as a country. Public holidays normally interfere with the working of a nation. However, let us look at it in terms of how we can make it even much better. During the last prayer breakfast, I saw something which was not good for many people. It became a handshake prayer breakfast, because others were excluded. When you see the Member ...

7 Oct 2021 in National Assembly:
The Petition by the people of Wasini is good, but they should be assisted by Hon. Mwashetani. It is a valid thing which should be looked into, and a report be tabled in this House where we will be able to support Hon. Mwashetani. Thank you, Hon. Speaker.
