10 Mar 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Speaker, for allowing me to contribute to this Motion. I rise to support the Report of the Committee in rejecting the nomination of Dr. Samuel Njuguna Kabue as a Commissioner to the KNHRC. The Committee has done a good job because, for once, they have not disputed the qualifications of Dr. Kabue. As far as his qualifications are concerned, they have not disapproved. What they have disapproved is the flawed process that was used in nominating him. The list of the names that were forwarded to the Head of State for nomination did not contain the name ...

10 Mar 2015 in National Assembly:
your name submitted to Parliament for approval. The President might not have been informed that the nominee is not among the original eight persons whose names were forwarded to him for nomination. A shortcut was taken, which flawed the process. This House cannot rubberstamp a wrong that was done elsewhere. Hon. Speaker, as the Jubilee Coalition and because of our command of majority in the House, at times some people take us for granted. They think that they can bring anything to the House, and we will just rubberstamp it. That is wrong. By rejecting this Report, we will be ...

3 Mar 2015 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, we talked about the issue of giving them to a maximum of 60 days. This is a very important Petition, which hon. Justice Kemei has raised. Last year before we went on recess, I also and my fellow Members from Trans Nzoia raised a very important Petition pertaining to the hospital which had been irregularly purchased. The Committee invited me to appear before it, which I did more than 120 days ago and presented the issues that were touching on that. The same Committee has been tasked with this important Petition without having even presented a report on ...

3 Mar 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Speaker, for allowing me to contribute to the adoption of reports of PAC as presented. Indeed, we are talking of the Appropriation Accounts, other public accounts and the accounts for the funds of the Government of Kenya for the Financial Years 2010/2011, 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 which were laid in this House last year - 2nd December, 2014. As you see, one, I want to commend and congratulate the Committee led by hon. Ababu for burning the midnight oil to make those three reports that they presented. Whenever we present reports on the accounts, it has an effect ...

events that happened, to be held accountable for events, either sins of omission or sins of commission that were done by other officers who came before them. If PAC can move with speed so that in every financial year we deal with the audited accounts of the last financial year, then our memory will be good. It will get those people who are in offices at that time to be held accountable and responsible so that proper explanations can be given for areas that we think have problems. One of the major problems in this country is that even members ...

25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for allowing me to contribute to this Motion. First and foremost, I want to thank hon. Wangamati for having worked very tirelessly to bring this Motion. When I met hon. Wangamati here in Parliament, I asked him whether he was the leader of the February Eighteenth Movement, FERA, and he told me that he was the one. This is because at that time some of us were very young when he ran away to Ghana because of the frustrations and the wars between him and Moi’s regime. So this Motion is timely. We know ...

25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I withdraw. But I want to say that some of our leaders today who were in the Provincial Administration and supervised the serious atrocities that were committed against Kenyans must also take responsibility and must come out to give evidence.
