This Bill is in this House because it has come from the Senate. It is a Bill that was sponsored by Hon. Anyang-Nyong’o and it is in this House because the Senate cannot pass a law by themselves, all laws must come here. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT, the Bill be amended by deleting Clause 3 and substituting thereof the following new Clause in subsection (1) — (a) deleting the proviso to paragraph (a); (b) inserting the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph (a)— “(ba) in the case of a referendum, between the date of the publication of the question and the date of the referendum”; (c) deleting subsection (3A); and (d) deleting subsection (3B). view

The Select Committee just talked about an election. We have made reference to a referendum. The amendment makes a provision in the case of a referendum, between the date of the publication of the question and the date of the referendum. We are importing what we have in Election Laws (Amendment) Bill No.3. That is all. view
